A History

The Vault At Southside is a 1928 historic Art Deco bank building located in South St. Louis at the corner of Grand and Gravois, just South of Tower Grove Park. It operated as the Southside National Bank until 2001 when they merged with Allegiant bank. After sitting vacant for a few years it came to the attention of Steve Smith and The Lawrence Group, who started an $11 million renovation on the building to include 13 luxury condominiums, office and retail space. The beautiful space boasts many original features such as ornate plaster work, soaring windows, tall ceilings, historic marble teller line and wrought iron gates along with our massive bank vault . After a few finishing touches and some modern day upgrades the space was opened for its first event in September of 2014.

We had our wedding reception at the Vault at Southside Tower and had a PHENOMENAL experience. They were on top of everything and made sure that everything went smoothly that weekend. We received many compliments on the uniqueness of the venue, but mostly on the food. We were told countless times that this was the best wedding food people had ever tasted. I think the price per person is very reasonable! You won’t find food like this at a place priced like this anywhere else in STL. I highly recommend working with Urban Canvas for any event you may have!
